introduction

the penumbra is a name i'm using to point at an idea which is difficult to express in words. this site is an attempt to explain it.

the idea seems to have formed for me out of the nonlinear agglomeration of several different influences, making it difficult to describe linguistically. there are several viewpoints on the idea presented, hopefully taken together it might make sense.
